Qigong, Tai Chi and Bagua Workshops at Koru Studio

Three weekends of special workshops taught by
Grandmaster Yuanming Zhang
Saturday & Sunday May 12/13, May 19/20, June 2/3

This is a rare opportunity to learn from a Grandmaster of traditional Chinese qigong and martial arts. Yuanming Zhang grew up in the Qing Cheng Mountain region of Sichuan Province, China, and was trained from the age of 3 in meditation, qigong, bagua, taiji and xingyi, by a number of old masters.

Grandmaster Zhang started teaching as a teenager in China and for over 15 years has taught classes and workshops throughout the U.S. Grandmaster Zhang has been the first to publicly teach a number of traditional qigong exercises and martial arts forms and methods, formerly taught only privately from master to apprentice. He teaches all levels of classes and workshops, ranging from basic Qigong for strengthening one's own body, to advanced methods of treating others. He also teaches the three internal martial arts of Xing Yi, Bagua and Tai Ji, and teaches not only the forms, but focuses on teaching the inner workings of qi and how to use it to power the forms. For more information about Grandmaster Zhang, see his website at http://www.qigongmaster.com.

Grandmaster Zhang will also be giving Qigong Healing treatments and Private Lessons by appointment.

Please call 617-959-6097 or email qigongworkshops@comcast.net for more information on treatments, lessons, or Boston workshop registration.

Saturday 5/12
12:30pm - 4:30pm

Qigong for Health (4.0 NCCAOM CEUs)
$70 prepaid / $80 at the door

The Chinese energy practice of Qigong is the energetic foundation of Tai Chi and Acupuncture.  By combining breathing, simple actions, and visualizations, you can learn how to let the energy of the universe flow through you and bring joy and happiness back to your life.

Come and learn how a few, simple techniques can:

  • Help strengthen your body
  • Improve your energetic boundaries
  • Calm your mind, prevent stress
  • Create balance, tranquility and health
  • Create a healthy and healing living environment.
  • Prevent your energy from being drained

This workshop will be of benefit both to healing professionals, who want to replenish their qi for use in healing, as well as to those who are interested in improving their own health. The techniques will be simple enough for those who have no previous experience with qigong, but are unique and will be of interest for those experienced with other forms of qigong.

Fire Dragon Qigong can heal illness, improve health and immunity, give you strength to protect yourself, and can also help you develop your hidden potential ability inside of you and make your life happier.

In the past, one of  Master Zhang's ancestors taught Tiger Qigong to the royal family. Master Zhang was the first to teach it to the public. It is remarkably effective in strengthening the body and building up internal power and can be applied to both Qi-emitting in healing and in self-defense.

Weekend #3: June 2 and 3, 2007

Bagua Weekend
The three arts of Taiji, Bagua, and Xingyi are referred to as internal since they cultivate the body's internal energy, known as qi. This is different than the external martial arts, which rely on muscle strength to develop power. The internal Martial Arts allow the practitioner to develop more power over time so that the older internal martial artist is often more fearsome than the younger, physically stronger one. Furthermore, the practice of internal arts calms the mind and stretches and strengthens the body in a holistic manner.

Modern bagua was created by Dong Hai Chuan and is based on the eight trigrams of the Yijing (I Ching), the Book of Changes. These fluid movements are said to make a nearly impenetrable defense as well as revitalize the body. Master Zhang is a 4th generation lineage holder, Dong Hai Chuan Bagua through Lu Zijian (115 yrs-old in 2006), and 8th generation lineage holder, Mt. Qingcheng Bagua.
